INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hey y'all! It's been ages since I've been on here, but thought I'd pop in and see if anyone in Northern Indiana had any Barred Rock roo's that needed a home (I'm happy to buy one). We lost ours to a predator a few days ago and he was just the sweetest thing ever. I'd really like to get another one and figured I'd check here before ordering from an online hatchery.

Thanks & hope things are going great for all of you!

I don't have BR roos but I do have 2 Swedish Flower Hen Cockerels that are 16 weeks old if you'd be interested.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcomes

Woo Hoo!! We just got our 1st egg ever!!

One of the Rhode Island Reds, Rusty, was the first to lay of the five, on their exact 19-week birthdays!
She had been going into the nest box and "practicing" LOL. Pulling on straw, and turning around. But this morning she was in there a long time....... She had stuffed straw up into the opening of the nest box, and all I could see was her little eye blinking back at me..... so I waited. When she finally came out, she cackled loudly at everyone! And I said, "Rusty girl.... today was the day, wasn't it?" So I peeked in, and there it was!!

I never thought I would be so excited over an egg! So now, it's sitting on my kitchen counter, and I don't want to eat it, I just want to look at it. What's up with that?

LOL blow out the egg and save it. I wish I had! Many folks do, and its just so much fun. Most people make a Christmas ornament or something else thats special to them.

I'm jealous too! My Production Red girls are about 18 weeks old now and I think they will be laying soon. Their tiny combs and the sides of their face is starting to turn red. I need to hurry up and get them some nest boxes.
Welcome to our thread if I didn't say it already! Production hens do lay earlier, 19 weeks up to 25 weeks for heritage breeds.

My girls are 19 weeks old and I haven't finished the nesting box yet. Looks like I will be in the morning..

If you are on a phone, it won't add the pictures all at once. I don't use the app, I use Chrome or another browser. Anyways I loved the pictures! Awesome to have a stream of water feeding the pond!
