INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Earlier yesterday I heard the governments really tightening up on livestock medicine, Antibiotics and drugs in general for livestock.

I've done business periodically with a company in Alabama call Jeffers pet supply. Called them yesterday inquiring about availability and pricing on a gallon of "Corid (active ingredient is amprolium)". During our phone conversation they mentioned to me A long list of drugs the government was taking off the shelves, they will only be able to be purchased with the prescription from a veterinarian.

So if anyone is in need of something you better start checking with your supplier to see how long it's going to be available

Hello and good evening everyone.
I just wanted to give a heads up for northwest Indiana folks. Some time early this morning between hours of 1am-5am, I had three ducks stolen :( . They were kept in a huge fenced in pin area right behind our house, and there were no feathers nor blood anywhere in the pin area to assume that any wild life got to them. Hubby did some tracking when he came home and found there were multiple foot prints coming from a vehicle that was parked at neighbor's driveway, which traveled over onto our property. Our neighbor was not home all day or night due to she helps take of her mother. Just so sad :( .
God Bless

@ellymayRans Which is the atipico? I can't get anymore Muscovies, but just would like to know. They are sweet looking. Hopefully they will go to a good home.

Thanks me too.

The atipico is a color gene. It just allows you to control the amount of white on the birds.
So for example. The ducklings in this pic. The yellow have dark tipped tails indicating barred, 1 is dark with the yellow apots at the shoulder is wild type, 1 dark with more yellow and no spots is a Pied and then the 1 that is a dusky atipico. Dusky atipico hatch brown with maybe a slightly lighter bib and can be any color. So for mine here it's an atipico dusky that is Blue.

The pair I posted about are black and have very little white.
I posted them shortly after their hatch and as they grew on here but they are on my other phone my teenager has since he busted his or I'd post them.

To be honest hun, I'm not sure what motivated someone to steal them. I've had a few egg customers ask if I had any duck eggs, which if course they were young still plus egg laying has slowed down on the ranch. But I would not assume they would steal them, seem like good people, thou shall not judge. I'm too gullable my husband tells me :) . I hope and pray they weren't used for meat. The breeds were a Cayuga hen, Buff Orpington hen and Ace my Pekin drake. The hens I just recently got :( , I still have 2 Cayuga hens and 1 Buff left. Ace was my 30th birthday duck present from my mother this past March, bought when he was a duckling.
You're welcome by the way. Just would feel awful if this happens to someone else, even more if I did not say anything. My flock is part of the family and I'm sure I'm not alone on the feeling :)

Oh no! I am terribly sorry to read this. Agreed, they become part of your family for sure.

Excited to announce my Muscovy eggs are HATCHING ~~~~WOOHOO~~~~! as we speak! Really bad time of year to brood ducklings, ugh. At least a part of that flock survives. My drake was accepted by the younger flock, fortunately. Pictures as soon as they are dry and able to leave the incubator!

So sorry. I hope you figure things out.

I will add that you would be surprised at how predators manage to leave without a trace. I would try setting a few traps and put up a game cam or a web cam. Web cams can be tied to your smartphone and with the right setup could even be alarmed if something/someone activates the motion sensor.
They can overall be relatively inexpensive. If someone is brave enough to steal from a "secured" area I would be more concerned about them now thinking you're an easy target.

I do not have that setup but it is on my Xmas list to

Still looking for a few turkeys.

(2) toms of any of the following but I would like a breeding pair to start breeding since losing my hens this summer. I would love a Midget White Tom or hen. Spanish black or bourbon red Toms or pairs.

I do have a Poult I'd trade too. She may be mixed but for all intensive purposes appears to be a palm.
She's pretty big already and will certainly be laying this spring if not sooner.

I've been searching CL but really would rather get from someone here and or closer to me.
