Please help.
Welcome to our thread! Theres plenty of roosters available! I am sure someone can help.

Hey guys! I'm from SOUTHERN SOUTHERN (yes its so far south, it requires two! ha!) Indiana. We got our first chickens back in April, and they started laying 8/24/16. Most people say they stop laying for the winter without light and heat. Our chickens do not have either light or heat, and out of 11 hens, we are still getting 9 to 11 every day. Are your chickens still laying? Just wondering if it's because they started laying later or what?
Welcome to our thread!

So, I just discovered online buying... well I knew about them but I got spring fever. Is Meyer hatchery out of OH good? Is shipping generally high?
I like Meyer myself. I have ordered on 3 occasions and no issues. Shipping is less expensive after March.

I finally read through everyones posts, and welcome to everyone new joining us!

I am finding it harder to be on our thread as often. If you want to PM (personal message me) thats ok too. Thanks for all the great posts, and pictures!
We have had several unexpected repairs recently, including replacing our furnace! Luckily my oldest nephew is a HVAC tech, we bought the new furnace at cost. Donated his time installing. Still have a ways to go improving the house for mobility.
Getting very few eggs, but what little flock I have left do still have daytime free range. Expecting goose eggs very soon! My oldest heifer Abby was bred last week, so we should see hopefully calves beginning late fall.

Ooo.... pins and needles. Just put the babies outside in their brooder under heatlamps and with a heatpad still, but they are officially in the coop now. Hoping they're fine overnight.

Whooohooooo! your babies are just a few behind mine! They hatched Monday and we got them in the mail yesterday morning. We settled ours into the basement in a feed trough though, I was concerned about the temperatures here. I want to wait until later spring to intro them to my other ladies.

@Indyshent how many chicks did you put out?

Posting for a friend, if interested, I can get more details but as of now, this is all I have....
A friend is looking to get rid of her chickens, she has 9 hens (hatched March 2016) 2 pullets and 3 Cockrell (hatched in october) and a non aggressive rooster (I wasn't told his hatch date)
She is hoping to get $30. Not sure if this is solid and I'm sure buyer needs to pick up in Peru indiana

I have a buckeye rooster for rehoming. He is a wonderful rooster as far as rooster jobs go but he absolutely HATES ME and only me but I am the one that does the outside work and chicken chores. He does not bother with anyone else here, the mail folks, my kidswhen they visit, the neighbkrs...only me! He is beautiful and very brave against the hawks that often try to visit. I wuld love for him to have a home to defend but it cannot be here. Interested parties us pick up in peru indiana. He truly is a great boy, I feel he only hates me bc the hens love me so much and he sees me as direct competition.
Pm if interested...

This boy that @Jntnrmn has is of the chicks I got in early June from Bill Dyke at Hidden Creek Farm.

Here are a couple of photos she sent me. If someone is interested I'm sure they would get you more photos. I have one of the boys from the same hatch here and he has been a good fellow in temperament so far.
