INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

@ellymayRans
That's strange.  Maybe all of us should give these people a call just to give them a difficult time.  Maybe those animals need to be rescued.  I certainly would not go to that place by myself.

Yes, very strange! When I looked at the ad, I did wonder why give them all away free? Sure, they want them gone quickly, but those kinds of animals, and that many, are surely worth some money. They would still go quickly if the person asked at least a portion of what they are worth. Makes you think something is fishy.

So I went in to Martinsville RK today as they were unloading their latest chicks.
I bought 12 Jumbo Cornish for the freezer. Will be my first time raising these!

New were Roeun Ducks, White Leghorn, Jumbo Cornish and Black white crested Polish straight run.
They did not get in the Cuckoo Marans nor the Lav Orps. They weren't sure why or when or act like they were even aware they were to get them.
I did take pics of every single bin label they had.
So here they are.

Wait- does this sign say Brown Leghorn?!

I've been looking for some!

Man my car is in the shop today and we have electricians here today and tomorrow. Cannot do a road trip right now. I bet they would never hold any for me. :(

I've been haunting my two local TSC. Maybe they will get brown leghorns eventually. Probably in between checks though. They always tell me it's random when they get chicks, just keep calling. That gets tedious.

Here's the peeps I bought at Agrarian yesterday. With no electricity here today, I had to move them out of the garage brooder and use the sunshine on the glass to warm them. They are a lot happier now.

You are amazing!!! Thankyou!!!

Does anyone have any suggestions of a good egg laying breed? We have barred rocks and road island reds, our RIR lay very well, our BR less so...I really like my RIR's but am so overy their meanness! They are snit's to the others

Leghorns lay very well also.

OuR 1920's headress! Thanks @ellymayRans
Wow very nice!

TSC Anderson has some ducks, Cornish X and a few laying pullet breeds. They did have a fairly full bantam bin too. If I get over to New Castle I will post whats there.

I am looking for a good home for our mini Donkey, Daisy. PM me for price, etc. She is excellent around small children, leads well, stands to be groomed and for the farrier. 4 1/2 to 5 year old Jenny. Her only fault is she doesn't like her halter put on! She is gentle with all my poultry and waterfowl, even the barn cats.
My bull "likes her" way too much, and am concerned he will hurt her. Or she will hurt him! I have seen her kick and bite him telling him to go away

! I have her and my goats on a separate pasture but there are times they must all comingle.

I took a stroll down to Bloomington RK this afternoon. They had a bunch of the same breeds as @ellymayRans got pictures of in Martinsville, plus maybe a few different breeds. They had a few Polish(silver laced, white crested black, buff) cuckoo marans, some ducks, BBW turkeys, guineas. I wish I would have taken pictures! A lot were pullets, some straight run. Most of the common (BR, ISA, Dominique, RIR, BA,Jersey giants)

The big score was all pullets were marked $1.00!! This is normal once the chicks get a week or 2 old, when the stores have to move them. Most of these are less than a week, several bins were filled today.

Just a heads up for anyone in the area looking.

Sorry @racinchickins they only had light brahma this time, although I think I've seem dark there in the past.

I wish I had a big enough place for the donkey! I'd like to have one someday but just not setup yet.
