INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hi guys!
frow.gif
Had some free time tonight and wanted to say hello. Been a rough couple months with my parents health.
Both seem to be improving now. I am about 600 posts behind, don't know if I can read them all but am going to try!

Good morning! Our flock is diversifying even more. My daughter's ag class hatched eggs and she came home with 5 more chicks.

We are also getting the coop area ready further. The fence is up and the new coop is just waiting for a for a door and finishing touches.

It's all still a work in progress.

Also, thank goodness for sunshine!

The recital was a big success, the tap & lyrical routines looked great, & the hair pieces never lost a feather. DD & her friend were called up on stage to receive special recognition for all their work with the youngest dancers. Afterwards we celebrated with pizza.

When we arrived home, our incubator had a peeping chick. (Due this evening) We named her Hollywood. DD woke up this morning and said that she wanted to do yesterday all over again.

FINALLY, I got around to taking a few pictures. These are my calico/mille fluer bantam cochins that came from @ellymayRans

I lost track of when i gor them from her, i think they're about 5 weeks now.

And here are some red frizzled bantam cochins with them. About the same age.

It looks to me like the calico turned out 4 cockerels and 3 pullets. Right now all 5 of the frizzled red look like pullets to me. I'd be shocked if I'm right but we'll see.

I've actually had veey good luck with pullets this year! First for me, I'm normally loaded with roos. Out of 10 polish i have growing out i can only pick out one roo right now. Fingers crossed I am right in my assessments.

I also got a really pretty chocolate cuckoo Orpington pullet and tiny choc cuckoo cockerel to go with her from @kittydoc

Unfortunately I haven't gotten any pictures of them yet.

Nice! Do you need to rehome any of those calico cockerels? ;)

A side note. One of the Bourbon poults hatched and it has an eye that it isn't opening. It's not "glued" I checked but it just doesn't open it. It's eye is there and appears fine otherwise. Just strange.

I had that happen, but the little guy opened it after a day! I assumed it was the bright lights after spending a month growing in a dark egg =)
