This chicken was sold to us as a hen, but we are being told now that it is a male. When we started keeping chickens, we decided we did not want any roosters. As such, we're offering this Black Sex Link cockerel free to anyone who is in need of a rooster. We do not know the actual age of the chicken but estimate somewhere between 16 and 20 weeks.
He is currently part of a flock being treated for worms, so we won't part with him until the worming is complete, (about a month.) If, in the meantime, it is determined that he actually is a she, this offer will be withdrawn and the chicken will not be available.
If you, or someone you know, might be interested, please comment/message. Thank you.

We've finally settled on a run design. :celebrate We have two TSC coops we've been using, and then let the ladies in a section of the yard during the day.

I was being irresponsible and leaving their door open all night because they're in a fenced in area of a fenced in area, but no top cover. While we didn't lose anyone, as we don't don't have any predators in our yard (yea right, but running with the fenced in fenced in area), I finally had my light bulb moment. So they get to be outside during the day, and locked up at night. I open the door on my way to work and go out to shut it before bed.

Anyways, we've decided on a hoop run attached to our TSC coop. Money is tight this week, but I cannot wait to get it started next weekend. Planning on making it out of feedlot panels with chicken wire to make it tight.

I want to make them a nice shaded area, but I haven't decided if I should try to find some corrogated metal to make a spot or just throw a tarp up. hmmm... but then I can get a couple more ladies too :ya

Also As for the turkeys, a person posted about 8 free turkeys on here and I replied saying I'd take them. Met up with the person and she only had 3 left. 2 Bronze and 1 royal palm.

Also here is the expanded Muscovy Aviary!

I must admit, that's a super cute photo, but come on, are they really more precious than baby turkeys? Little grumpy looking, fuzzy headed, imperious, bug eyed, baby ostrich looking cuddle bugs? That *peep*peep*peep* at all hours just because they miss mommy and need to see your face so they can get back to sleep? Can go soon is really compete with that?

If it's really a black sex link, it's definitely a boy and whoever sold it to you should've known better. That's the point of sex links: they can be seed at hatch by down color. Boys have white spots on their noggins and girls don't (but they often have reddish tints). If it's a misidentified barred Rock, the seller is still at fault because all barred breeds have spots on their noggins as hatchlings. That said, barred doesn't mean it's a boy for other breeds of chicken, though the comb and shanks on this one certainly look more masculine. Most black sex link roosters have red bleed through shoulders, hackles and/or saddle feathers so watch for a red or gold tint coming in there. Most are also usually lighter than your bird (barred girls tend to be darker than boys, which tend to look more grayish than black).

@Indyshent This one has a greenish hue on the tips of his/her wing feathers but I've seen no red tint at all. And am I reading right...this could still possibly be a Barred hen? There has been so much back and forth between BSL roo, BR pullet, BSL roo, no BR pullet, NO BSL ROO, that I am completely confused and an now just waiting for a crow or an egg!
