INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

This might be cheating, but made these earlier this month. :p

How does everyone decorate their coops for winter? I've been following fresheggsdaily on IG and she does some pretty cute things around her coop and run. I'm afraid I'm not that creative!
I decorated mine with plastic and a tarp. :lau
I am being practical (and a goof), but haven’t had time to decorate but just making sure it’s winterized and predator proof. I do admire those that have the time and talent to decorate though. I follow the chicken chic on Instagram and am wowed by her chicken areas.

DD's holiday concert was last night. She played in the chime choir, band, and also sang.
My fav parts were :
* the preschool group (They're always fun to watch b/c you never know what's going to happen. )
* the band (DD had a significant clarinet solo)
* the 7th & 8th grade FaaLaLaa battle/ duet

Hey, just to keep the thread moving, how about posting Christmas decorations, cookies, etc.?

Our house is rather boring, but ever since we moved here our neighbor has always decorated his house in the same way. Yes, nothing says Christmas is coming more than seeing Jesus on the roof! The neighbor on our other side had a large plastic Santa. He stood on the cement steps. (The Santa was retired a few years ago.)

Only on our street does Santa walk through the front door and Baby Jesus go up on the rooftop. DH & I have even made up our own carols about it!

After 20 years, I asked our neighbors about their reasons for the decoration placements. When in the yard, the manger used to get covered with snow drifts. By putting the manger up high, it can be seen without shoveling. (Makes sense) And now, it's just a neighborhood tradition! The Santa, on the other hand, was 4.5' tall, so it was simply too big for the roof - and our neighbor was too shaky to be on ladders.

Your daughter is amazing!
Clarinet Player
Chicken Trainer
Science Experiment Guru
Hair Clip Maker
Dancer

And the list goes on and on!!!

OH...and I see that Santa Clause decided to attend the concert. It's world-renowned!
Thanks. I'll pass along your compliment.

DS has his own "talents," but most of them involve taking things apart. Broken toys are just not as photogenic. LOL In the long run, I can see him becoming some type of inventor. He received & disassembled a little toy gun - then of course lost the spring. It took 2 days, but he was able to redesign it using a rubber band as a source of elasticity..

Made ornaments out of salt dough.

Bears and gingerpeople, snowflakes and a heart all made out of salt dough.

The gingerpeople, bears, and the brown heart became garland. The blanket separates the foyer in the winter to keep the house warmer. I think the garland will stay up all winter.

Love the ornaments! I have a ?. Would salt dough work for an outdoor tree or would they get yucky? Maybe, some type of sealer is needed? (Looking for ideas for next year's 4H tree) This year we did pine cone elves, but I think having the kids make & bake could be fun.
I think they would get yucky. I think my snowflakes may have a problem underneath the paint, because they are painted all the way around, sealing in any moisture. I discovered that painting the entire surface, makes them somewhat moist again. Sealing might have the same effect, unless there is no moisture in the sealer to absorb into the ornament. The ornaments that are not painted all the way around can still dry as needed.

I would like to make some out of clay, but I would need to get a kiln. The salt dough is fun, inexpensive, and I wouldn't mind making them every year.
