INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Genetics addicts: What would a tailless, double tufted Araucana roo over #1)Svart Hona, #2)Brown Leghorn, #3)RIR
What could the birds look like?
What color eggs would they lay?
Here's the roo: View attachment 1213460

Anything can happen. Rumplessness is a multi-gene deal because there are many modifying genes in addition to the several genes that can cause it (plus accidents and injuries). There are dominant, incomplete dominant, recessive and accidental ways of getting rumpless birds.

I have no idea what "double tufted" is supposed to mean. Tufts are a homozygous lethal gene, ergo your bird cannot have a double dose, and only half of his offspring will have tufts. It's assumed that if one side of his face has tufts the other will too, just like people don't grow eyelashes on only one side of their face.

Your boy isn't a recognized color I know of, but he has bleed in his shoulders. Looks like he might be S/s, heterozygous for silver and gold. Otherwise, he looks black. You'll get colorful mutts, but he's a mix and any number of combinations might happen. His black is going to mostly cover other colors.

Egg color should hopefully be light blue over Leghorn and Svart Hona, and green from the RIR cross

Lately I've been keeping chickens locked up most of the time. (Hawks) Today I let them stay out for a little while & put the dog outside with them. Boy did they have fun! They were literally "frolicking." Flapping wings & stretching them as far out as they could go! Also running top speed (which isn't too fast b/c they're orps) & then popping up off the ground. So much fun to see them out enjoying life.

Haven't been on in a while. We have been dealing with a lots of things..
First my husbands grandmother in Oct. had to travel to AK for the funeral, then his step-grandmother a week later in Ohio, and then his grandfather 6 days that, then my uncle passed away and had to travel to Wisconsin for his, and now we just got back home from a family friend funeral, a family of 5 killed by drunk driver.

I hope everyone has been having a nice time! I just got 5 Rhode Island Red Hens with a huge dog kennel and coop for only $50! The hens arn't even a year old. The owner bought them as day old chicks from Tractor Supply. They claim that they lay 5 eggs a day like clockwork. I really want some broodies.... Pictures coming soon!

@Nyla
Glad to hear you're hanging in there, but so sorry for all the recent funerals. We had a 2 month period in 2015 when I lost 4 people very close to me & also had to attend 8 funerals. Not sure why it always seems to happen in bunches. I still miss my mom - especially now because she loved Christmas & all those big family gatherings.

You found a great deal on those RIR and they should give you lots of eggs. That is my sister's fav breed. So how many chickens/ducks/quail do you have now?

The teacher from the Ag Club sent me a pic of Bubbles doing her Magic Psychic Chicken Act. The kids loved it, but all I see in this pic are her molted feathers! She's leaves a trail of feathers wherever she goes. It's crazy & she still has no bald spots! The kids were crazy trying to snatch up all those precious feathers - like candy thrown at a parade. LOL
