INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I'm looking for some Bantam silkies and I really don't want to ship from a large farm (like Ideal). Anyone in the Northern Indiana/Michigan area know of any nearby? I'm willing to drive a few hours to get them.
:welcome Welcome to BYC and our thread! :frow
@jchny2000 Have you ever let any of your geese hatch muscovy eggs and be their mom?
Yes, I will try to find a picture. She had 17 hatch and was a great mom! Later that season I lost a mother duck (flew into a semi for pity's sake) and she raised that clutch too. She earned the name Mama quite well for us.

You aren't too far from me. I plan to do Cornish cross soon, so we can make a day of it if folks want to come and learn.
That would be great. I would love to come!

You could check on Facebook. There is a Central Indiana Chicken group and an Indiana Chicken Swap, and a new one, Central Indiana Poultry Enthusiasts. It seems like I've seen a lot of Silkie ads lately.

OH MY GOD I'M A RABBIT MOM!!!!!!

Both girls had babies... one killed hers but the other one has cuties. I discovered them while checking food status.

Never understood why they do that, so sad. Congrats on the other moms babies! I had 3 does, 2 of the 3 would always kill or eat the babies. One was a very good mother never an issue. I think we had new Zealand been a long time. Good sized not giant rabbit, grew fast. They had a broken black and white pattern.

I have had a couple messages so I wanted to explain better.. my take on processing rabbits and geese. Growing up I rehabbed wild rabbits, and have kept several domestic breeds as pets. I tried to raise domestic rabbits for food.. I can't do it. Was not impressed with the meat. Same for domestic geese. Since I hunt there is no imprinting and no attachment to that animal. My parents and gramma kept geese. Gramma never processed one unless it became to mean to keep. I learned goose training from her and my Dad. Sometimes a gander just won't learn, rarely and he has to go.

Everyone I'd Like You To Meet Soon To Be Sirius.
(Sirius is an excellent name to bestow on your son. Also called the Dog Star, Sirius is the brightest star in the sky. So your boy will always be radiating and shining wherever he goes. It’s also the name of the XM satellite radio.)

So I found this handsome boy on CL. I couldn't resist him! He looks so sad and scared and mistreated...... I just have to save him! Owner wanted $400, talked them down to $300! He is so called "pure" bred Border Collie but doesn't have papers! As you can see in the picture, they are tugging his leash basically choking him. It's saddening and makes me mad! He is about 1 hour away but worth the drive! I soon will have this handsome boy as mine! Oh and owner claims he is 4 months old but he looks older. Doesn't he?

He is the last of their litter.

I could be jumping to conclusions. Maybe he hasn't been trained on a leash before. I don't know. All I know is what I feel, and what I feel is love for this wonderful dog! I can't wait to meet him!

He does look quite shy. Did they say why they wanted to sell him?
