Central Indiana
Hi there,

I'm in central Indiana and was wondering if anyone could recommend processors in the area. Or even someone who would be willing to teach me to process!! I'd like to get to the point where I'm processing our own chickens, ducks and geese.

Unfortunately, I'm a better hands on learner. I can read and watch all the step by steps out there, but will still be unsure. Of course this will most likely be what I do. Diving in neck first!

I'm in East Central Indiana (hagerstown). There is an Amish family in the area (Hwy 1 a couple miles N of I-70) who processes chickens that I'm going to try to take my RIR roosters to. I gave them my phone number and they are supposed to call me when they are going to process chickens. Hopefully sometime this month. They are the only ones that I have found that processes chickens. I do want to do my own though, but I am totally inexperienced at it. I'll probably just have to do one, see how it goes and learn from it. If you find any one who processes chickens I'd like to know as well.

Thanks for the information. If they do contact you, let me know how it goes.

My kids bus driver said she'd found someone who processed chickens for under $2 a bird. This would be a pretty good price from what I've been reading. (I know, still not as cheap as doing it yourself.)
