Indio Gigante journey

Seemingly over night the little baby combs on my chicks have begun to redden and possibly reveal who’s who in my young flock! It’s all too exciting to see my future Roos and hens! I will keep you updated with pictures when it’s more set in stone! In the meantime enjoy these!

Also side thing! Anyone else’s chicks like to make themselves comfy on your shoes?
I just started raising these. Mine are about 2 months old. How do I tell if they are roosters or hens? Will roosters have a comb? Will the hens?

Can you send images of them here? Perhaps I can help you! Usually at two months the roosters will have more skin patches on the face then the hens and depending on the variety they will be a lot darker in feathers.

Hey everyone! It’s been quite some time but after some trial and error we’ve finally got some hatching indio eggs! I’ll update more soon

Have you measured your male and females? I believe males should measure in at 38” or above and females are 36” or above. I have been breeding this breed for a year or two now. My males measure in at 40”. I rehome any who are under the standard to be sure to preserve the breed.

my current cockerel stands at ABOUT 39-40" I'd have to snag him again but he's definitely in the right area. My smallest hen is about 35" so she doesn't quite meet the mark but the others do just fine.
