Indoor and outdoor roosts?

I'm getting 25 chicks next month. I live in south Mississippi, so it gets hot down here. I am going to make at least a portion of the run covered and was thinking about putting roots inside the house and out in the run so they can roost out doors when it is hot. Good idea or no?

Great idea.

Even better, skip the traditional coop and roof as much as possible for some glorious shade.

But for you... those three solid walls would probably be better with the top half wire, but with shutters to close for huge storms. And maybe deeper eves so everything can be left open in regular rain storms.
