ok so my 5 month old chickens this summer during heat wave learned how to use my doggy door to come inside. So now its not so hot and its time for them to stop. I thought as chickens they would want to be out side but even these last few days it has been unseasnoal cool out (Vegas is aug we never got out of the 70's yesterday) right now its so nice out side i would out side for most of the morning do you know where the chicken where inside my room laying in there now claimed dog bed. I shoe them out of the room and as soon as I turn my back there all back inside again. now out side they have 3 yards to go into and have fun my garden area, there coop / run area and the upper yard with bushes and trees and a poarch, grass and lots of bugs to eat. I am confused would a chicken naturaly want to hang out out side not inside? I know closing the doggy door where it cant open would be easy answear but I have a 13 year old lab with bladder issues and hip dysplaia both hips and arthriits in front shoulder. (we are doign quilty of life list on her and she is still a very happy dog just sore and leaves wet spots thats why no new rug for me yet) but with honeybear I cant lock her out or in. I guess i really dont know what my ? is other then should they grow out of wanting to be indoor chickens or should i scare them everytime they come in so the rooms not so much of a great place anymore.
