Is it possible to keep rouen ducks indoors? Or is that a little too far fetched of an idea? I would keep them in a mini barn/shed 46"x39"x34" at night, and in the day let them either free roam with diapers or keep them in a pen on a tile floor with shavings(tile cant be stained obviously). Oh and there would be 3 of them, 1 drake and 2 hens.

No way would I keep a flock(in your suggestion, a trio) in my house long term, yes, i do raise the odd duck in my house, cough i have a few in here right now BUT eventually they are out, i toss them out during the day so they can be ducks, ie; grass, mud, bugs.. water and so forth.

There are threads here on house ducks so i'd do a search but it's something i don't practice past brooding ages.

Have you ever had ducks? Are you prepared for such a mess? Do you think they would be happy inside or out in the mud and grazing grass and weeds? It wouldn't hurt to try but you may find that they are happier out in nature were they were meant to be.

Hey then go for it. They'll love the attention!

I am new to ducks. I have 7 about 2 months old that I hatched. They love being around me and they love their pool, grass, and MUD but they still are afraid of me picking them up. I don't try to hard, I want them to get comfortable with me. I tried once when they were young but they squilled so I backed off to give them their space hoping they'll give in. They are really starting to take an interest in snacks so I may get a hug soon!

The setup i am looking to get with my babys is a 36" diameter play pen(upgrade when bigger obviously) with a paint roller tray pool(cool because there is a slope down into the water)and a 250 watt heat lamp. For the night they go into a 17x19" rabbit hutch JUST for sleeping(i will add a blanket or hay or something) and a 50 watt nightlight heat lamp. Whats cool is it is very dim so it doesnt affect their sleep. i am hoping to be able to handle them when they start getting their feathers in.

The paint tray is cool for the first couple weeks, I can not believe how fast my ducks grow. They seem to double in size each week. You may want to consider puppy training pads for them at night because ducks consume so much water that there poo is like paste. It will lighten your load!!! I am sure these will be some happy duckies. Send some pics. When are you getting them? Are these your first ducks?
