indoor ducks

The paint tray is cool for the first couple weeks, I can not believe how fast my ducks grow. They seem to double in size each week. You may want to consider puppy training pads for them at night because ducks consume so much water that there poo is like paste. It will lighten your load!!! I am sure these will be some happy duckies. Send some pics. When are you getting them? Are these your first ducks?
First, I would like to thank you, youre very helpful in helping a duck noob like myself :) . I was getting them from eFowl but there is a 4 minimum for ducklings so not there, i need 3. 3 is already too much to handle indoors

I hatched 8 ducklings back in April and after 3 weeks I could not wait to get them out of the house. I had them in a kiddy pool lined with plastic and dried Bermuda grass. The mess and smell was almost unbearable. It was a lot of work.

I have had my indoor muscovy for almost 6 weeks. He is the greatest pet ever. He stays in a large dog cage when he can't be watched. I got a duck diaper off of Nettie and it works pretty well. He usually hangs out in my kitchen or sits on my lap while I work on the computer. He takes care of the bugs in my house. He's very affectionate and smart. I found that shredded newspaper is the most affordable bedding. It pretty much does the job and practically everyone will start giving you stacked of old papers once you ask. Plus the ducks love to play with it. He has a bunch of dog and parrot toys to keep himself amused. I found that a few heavy ceramic mugs filled with water make a much waterer than anything else. They are deep enough that the ducks can clean their nostrils and and are hard for the duck to tip over since they are small. I've started fermenting his feed so hopefully that will help with the smell. Good luck!

Sweet! Pics?

I have an indoor muscovy duck name Punk II. I make sure all his needs are met and he does a good job in eating all the bugs in the house. His cage I keep him in when I have to go out is next to a huge window and half of the cage has shade and the other side is sunny to make sure he gets plenty of sun light. I take him out a lot for him to eat bugs outside and hang outside and run around. He nibbles on the grass and likes to eat clovers.

Phil is an inside duck, he sleeps in the laundry room at night in his tub but during the day he doesn't leave my side. We go outside daily so he can swim and what not. He's only two weeks old though, so I haven't completely decide if he'll be an inside duck or not.
