I have a bit of a unique situation. We have two roosters recovering from injuries in our home. Last night my husband discovered that one rooster is infested with mites. This is a new development, as the roosters have been in the house for well over a month.

Another thing to note is that we have cats in the home.

We cannot treat them with Premetherin outside due to the cold temperatures, and we can't treat them inside because Premetherin is toxic to cats.

I can only get Elector PSP online, and I'm afraid that won't arrive in time.

Should we treat with diatomaceous earth and VetRX? I'm not sure what to do in this situation. :(

What injuries do they have to keep them inside?
I'd get permethrine or sulfer dust and dose outside.
If the mites have just appeared, they've always been there but the lack of dust baths have not kept them under control.
Vet rx is just camphor oil and Diotomaeceous Earth is useless for mites

It might be worth trying sulphur powder. No matter what powder one chooses the chickens are going to shake and the powder is going to fly.
DE not only has the same dust problem it also won't work on a major infestation.

It read like you believe the mites are going to kill your rooster in the near future. If the rooster has chicken mites living on him then the probability is they are Northern Fowl Mite. Don't get me wrong, they are dangerous and left unattended for long enough, they can kill the chicken. How long do you think he's had the mites for?
