Open Contest Indoor Plant Show—2025 BYC Summer Fair

What a great photo, my friend! Can you spread this one by taking pieces and putting them in water?
You know, I haven’t tried, but I bet so. I think those stragglers crawling out of the pot could be cut and transplanted. Want me to try it for you?

Edit to add: I just read that purple passions are vining plants! I did not know that. I bet that would make it easy to propagate. And many owners find the flowers unpleasant and pluck them lol it’s not just me haha!

Dionaea muscipula, AKA the Venus fly trap.

Yes, these things do flower.

What if I have a few houseplants that I put outside when the weather is nice? Would that classify as indoor or outdoor?
Excellent question! It depends if it's typically a houseplant that is just outside for a few days or is a plant that could be a houseplant in some places, but is planted outside in your garden.
To clarify, take my spider plants. They're my houseplants, but for the Summer, I keep them outside. They're still in their pots and aren't in my garden. When winter hits, they'll come back inside. They're houseplants. Then take an Aloe plant. That's typically a houseplant, but for some people, they're growing outside in the ground naturally and will never be a houseplant. They're part of a garden or are growing wildly.

I've been finding that there's a lot of people (or at least I'm meeting those people) who put their houseplants outside on nice or warm days. The plant is still a houseplant. I hope this answers your question!

Good to know!

Same with my mint, dill and basil. I take them out on the warm days😅
