Not sure what type of plant it is. Was gifted it.

I took a photo of you plant and put it on Google Lens. It came up as a being a Croton Plant from the tropics. According to Bloomscape.com, it likes humidity and plenty of sunlight. The more sunlight the more colorful the leaves! Hope this helps you.

I know the thread gets locked when the contest is over, but whenever it’s unlocked and somebody post the results, I don’t get notified. How do I fix this?

It can't be fixed. You don't get notifications because we prepare the announcement post in the VPM forum, then move it to its contest thread.
