Just noticed this discoloration/possible infection on the base of the rooster comb. He is on display right now at an event, so he’s in a cage and we could get a closeup look at him. It is on both sides of the comb, in the same location, but I couldn’t get the other side.
He is acting fine, eating fine. No noticeable changes. He has not been in any fights bc we have no other rooster, and there is not a dominant hen that fights him either. He stays in a large run, so no predator interactions. The run has a roof (no aerial predators), and lots of shade.
