So I did a not so smart thing by bringing home a 6 week old Silkie from a "farm" I went to with a friend, that now appears to have Infectious Coryza. Smelly, snotty discharge from the nostril. Not seeing any other possible conditions it could be. My 4 6mo old Buff Orps have not come in contact with it, nor have I with them until after I'd figured it out and sanitized everything, including myself before putting them up for the night. The silkie is in a box, in a bathroom in the house, the Buffs, outside and now in their coop for the night. Everything I've read tells me the only option is culling the carrier chicken.. but holy cow, how do I do that to a baby?! Anyone gone through this??? Lesson learned on my end for jumping into a purchase after seeing the filthy conditions these poor birds were in. What to do....???
