I got pullets and a sweet tufted Auracana rooster on may 5th fully feathered. I guesstimate them to be 6.5 to 7 months old. The rooster is doing his deed with all of the hens but I am not seeing a bullseye on any of the eggs. do you think it is a late maturing breed? I have had such bad luck with mean roosters I really want him to work. He is so cute and he does a dance for the ladies before he mates them. he is more of a pet than a farm animal.

Not sure what to tell you,,,, except,, Check your hens, as well as your rooster to see if there is a possible feather obstruction on ether hens, or roo. In the process of mating,,, there is not much more than rubbing of genitalia against the vent. Feather blockage would prevent successful fertilization.
Your roo is still a juvenile cockerel since less than a year old. Maybe good fertility is still to come as he gets more mature.
Could be he is doing practice runs at present. Glad you have a non-aggressive roo:thumbsup... Aggressive ones are only good for soup..:old

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:

Thanks for the advice. We don’t need chicks but I want to have that option when I need to replenish the flock.

I agree could be feathers, you could trim the fluff around all their vents and see if that helps fertility. I usta do that with my silkies and it helped a ton 👍
