I've read and heard a lot of hearsay about how corn and other plant extracts used to enhance skin color also will affect the color of white feathers.
Can anyone cite a research paper using the scientific process that establishes this link? I used plant extracts to enhance the color of the skin and shanks for show purposes but it seemed that it caused the feathers to pull brass. I've yet to find any legitimate study that bears that out.
What i did observe is that during the four weeks following after i stopped feeding the extracts they became progressively whiter. It's my conclusion the brassiness was caused by transfering the extract to the feathers while preening which is how they became whiter after i doscontinued feeding the extracts.
