I have 8 hens that are 14-15 months old. We recently put a rooster in the coop with them and now we can't touch them or get near them. They run! We (My 5year old and I) used to be able to pet, carry and touch them. Will this behavior ever stop and us be able to handle them again? Is there anything I can do to make this better?

I would just keep giving them some treats every so often (like a little scratch dropped from your hands as they come up) to reinforce that you are not just another rooster trying to chase them down. They may be tired of being tracked down by the rooster (just a guess).

Maybe the rooster thinks you're a predator and makes a warning noise to the hens like what they do when they see hawks
