info on hatching in egg cartons?

i was thinking of hatching in egg cartons to prevent the hatched chicks from playing bowling with the chicks that havent hatched

I have done a couple hatches with eggs in the paper cartons. I used a hole punch and cut out the bottom so eggs had more ventilation. It worked well except, I had one chick that pipped where the carton was and couldn't get out. Luckily I pulled egg to check when I heard peeps and saw that it couldn't hatch in the carton. Since then I have been using paper muffin baking cups and it keeps eggs from being rolled but they still can move some.
