Info on silver laced wyanndotte

Also I have 2 wyandottes 1 silver laced and 1 columbian and they are soo sweet. My columbian is sort of a loud mouth though really likes to complain and Lacie May is really sweet loves to sing her egg song. I also have 18 BLRW eggs in the bator right now because I love the breed so much. My Wellsummer is my big loud mouth but Lacie likes to be carried around like baby and loves her treats and being scratched.

I have 2 SLW and 2 GLW, they all lay light brown eggs. They are not my friendliest chickens, but they are great foragers, and they are absolutely beautiful. My SLW's follow my big black Friesian gelding around the pasture and let him stir up grasshoppers and bugs for them, quite a trio. I like them - they aren't big but they don't let anyone - including my two big young roosters - push them around!

I got my first wyandottes this year, 14 Columbians. They lay a medium brown egg & so far I like them. My rooster is a pretty nice guy at present. The one I rehomed was a brat however. They are laying real well right now 9-11 eggs per day for 13 pullets. Think 2 just started laying this week. They are 28 weeks old, most started laying at 20 weeks.

My SLW is 6 months old this week, and no eggs from her yet.

She seems to be ok, personality wise. None of my chickens hop into my lap or anything, but they're sure happy to see me (or, more specifically, the treats I always have with me), and she's just as anxious as the rest. I've never seen her pick on any of the other hens in the nest. So, personality wise, nothing to stand out. I think she's my prettiest chicken though.

My SLW is kind of a bully. She will try to bite me when I try to see underneath her for an egg. My others don't do this. I can easily lift them to see if they've laid. I have to check because she will sit for an hour on someone else's egg and I don't want her to go broody. After a year, I'm still having problems with her eggs. They always have a tiny area where the egg shell is very soft and sometimes a tiny hole. I'm still keeping her though because she is very pretty.
