Our fair is going to have 'open class' showing for all animals and I decided that this year I wanted to show our Mille Fleur D'uccle.

I'm not exactly sure what information I need for showing poultry.

Can anyone tell me?

A copy of current SOP and a good eye for the standard.

Healthy birds, they generally are vet checked before being admitted in the show.

Just go, and have fun!! You'll learn as you go, and it's an enjoyable experience.

Thank you!
Having fun was what I planned on doing :D

Wash the birds prior to show and put a dose of permethrin in water for fleas and mites.

I also liked to oil the legs and clip their toenails...
A second on all of this...

Use a toothbrush to scrub the legs, avoiding the leg feathers, and check for scaly leg mites which is is a problem in d'Uccles.
Clean legged bird's scales should be soft and supple, but in the case of feather legged breeds, just make sure there isn't dirt underneath.
Keep the birds in a dry area, whether that be a cage or grass that has absolutely no mud at all- before the show. My d'Uccles always had trouble with the feathers breaking off.
