Information Overload!!!

Our litter is about 6-8 inches thick of pine shavings. The bedding is about 10-12 inches thick as well.
What is the difference between litter and bedding in your case?

How many birds of what ages in how much space do you have?
Dimensions and pics could help here.

Does your run area gather standing water?

The bedding is what is in the raised area where they lay their eggs. The litter is the floor of the coop. (Photos below)

We have five birds. They are about 1-1/2 yrs. old. We've only had them about two weeks, and we are first-time chicken noobs. The girls have about 80 sq. ft. on the ground below the raised egg-laying area. The enclosed egg-laying area is about 50 sq. ft. The run is 8x16 ft. (sorry if my nomenclature is a bit off)

The run area does not gather standing water. The drainage is pretty good.
