Hi all

Have looked through a few posts with similar titles. Didn't seem to match exactly what I'm seeing on my rooster. His back has a bare spot so I grabbed him this morning to look at it. This is what I saw. Looks like follicles are not forming right in the area and there is scabing.
Will it work itself out or do I need to get in there and free up and keep clean? Any direction is appreciated!!

I think he will probably clean it up on this own. My chickies pull their own scabs when they are healed up.

Watch it for infection. That's the advice I have.

I've had a couple hens that were bullied really badly. Some areas were completely picked clean of all feathers. Not even follicles remained and they were a bloody mess. After a couple of weeks of separation though, and a lot of good food, their feathers started to grow back well. I recommend just separating the rooster from his bullies for a time and giving him plenty of protein-rich food. He's already scabbed over and should be fine.

Thank you for the replies! We let him alone and kept an eye out, looks like time did the trick and everything is working itself out.
