Is this an ingrown feather? And of course she has some turd pieces in the way…it’s hard to take a pic at night when the flash only lights up for a second!

Do I free it somehow with some tweezers and let it stay? Pluck it out? Is it just like a human getting an ingrown hair?

Looks like it is.
Yes, I would try to free it. I would swab it with a little chlorhexidine or similar disinfectant first, then work it with some tweezers, needle, etc. See what it looks like when you free it, if it's got a bit of pus underneath there, then I would pluck it, squeeze out the pus, then swab again with chlorhexidine or similar disinfectant.

So, I had cleaned the area, freed the feather (which was easy - I left it in tact but freed it from, under her skin) and sprayed Blue Kote. Looked at it today (it’s been a week) and it’s red. I thought maybe I needed to pluck it and gave it a few good tugs with tweezers but that thing isn’t moving. It’s the feather in the middle. The pic was taken before I tried to pluck so that‘s how red the skin is.

Do I leave it and just clean it or should I pluck? That thing was REALLY in there. I have a lot of oral antibiotics if that would be better…. 540197AB-0F61-48D9-9E00-B218DE238995.jpeg
