Yesterday I inherited 6 hens from a friend who is moving to Sweden. My family had all kinds of pets, including chickens, when I was growing up, but I've never started from "scratch." Lurking here for the past two weeks, taking notes, designing our coop and run. The girls are settled in a temporary coop and small run, but they're used to having more space so I need to get moving on their new home! Meeting with an experienced coop builder tomorrow as our site and situation is a bit unusual. Lots of great info on litter methods, feeding, and so many nice coop designs. Thanks for all the tips and ideas!

Welcome to BYC!

Good luck with the coop build. Always build bigger than you think you need. Not only will the chickens appreciate more space, but if you ever want to add to your flock, you won't have to add on.

Great to have you aboard and welcome to our flock!
