Found four Golden Comets dead attacked by unknown predator. My new chicken coop had double chicken wire plus another thick wire with 3 sides enclosed with blue tin and roof. Checked out the other hens and one hen had her chest opened and you could see through a hole into her esophagus, several wounds on her right wing, and so sad to say her left wing the bone was broke and exposed. I was frantic and this hen was still alive and no small animal hospital in Santa Rosa County would treat chickens! I was so thankful to find Safe Harbor Animal Hospital at 820 Creighton Rd, Pensacola, FL 32504 (850) 476-5571 in Escambia County who would treat chickens!! My beautiful Golden Comet had to cross over the rainbow bridge. My grandson was with me and we both were crying. Dr. Platzer was so compassionate, caring and very knowledgeable about chickens. I was thankful to find some place to take my injured chicken. This is my personal opinion and just for anyone else in my area to know where they can find a veterinarian that treats chickens. The hospital even sent a sympathy card.
