City backyard chicken
About 1 year old
Had her since last may(ish)

We noticed Nuggets hadn't been laying the past week or so which was unusual for her (though she's <1 year old); she was acting lethargic and not moving from her coop so I got worried, checked her crop, her feet, etc. I made sure she had food and water and she perked up over the next few days and carried on like normal.

Like usual, today she came running to, "Here chick, chick, chicky!" for her favorite daily treat of dubia roaches (yum) and my wife noticed her feathers looked funky on her back/neck. It turns out the feathers around the yard I've been noticing were not just loose feathers, but she appears to have been attacked by something and survived.

After taking her in, washing the area with mild soap and water I took some pictures (and posted a couple below). During her bath, I also noticed she seemed to slouch her left wing every once in a while though nothing feels broken or looks damaged on her wing.

She's walking around outside now and pecking around, but I'm worried what could have caused this. It looks like there are possible bite marks or something on her shoulder. They seem much to small to be from my dog for sure, but perhaps a cat/bird that let her go? She's quite feisty normally and picks on our dog several times her size.

I'm putting antibiotic on the wounds and keeping an eye on her. Is there anything I should be looking for to make sure she returns to health?

She just took a sun bath and is in her coop area resting.

Is she eating/drinking o.k.?
Any odor from the wound?
I would keep the wound moist with triple antibiotic ointment. Is she with the other chickens or do you have her separated? If she is with the flock, I would watch to make sure no one is picking at the wound and that she is not picking at it herself too.
A large kennel or crate setup inside the coop/run works well if she needs extra care.
If your weather is fairly mild to warm, watch for insect activity too - flies are always attracted to wounds and lay eggs - maggots hatch out quickly and start to consume and damage skin.

It would be hard to know what happened to her. Your choice - dog, raccoon, coyote, possum, fox, weasel, mink, bird of prey...there's probably more but you get the idea - anything that likes chicken could have done that.
Do you have a secure coop for them to sleep in at night?
