Hi! I’m new here and new chicken mom. I found a newly hatched chick from a first time mom pecked severely all over it’s head. It looks like a burn victim. It is raw in places and started oozing hours later. How do I clean it? I only had corn starch powder to put on the places that were raw to keep from bleeding. It swallows, breathes fine, pooped once, chirps and reacts to sound. 🥺 I’ve given it honey water and egg yolk

Pictures would be helpful. Also I assume you have separated it from the other chicks and mama? If so what does the setup look like.

it was steadily improving all day but has gone down in last 2 hours. Yes it is separated. I have it on a towel in a plastic square container by the aquarium with the heat lamp. Not directly under it. It seems warm enough.

I'm sorry about what happened to your chick!
I don't have much experience with injuries, but when my duck got injured- pecked hard on the head- warmth was what she needed, and supervision and separation.
Good luck!
