Hello y'all! I am a longtime lurker and experienced chicken keeper. My neighbor has an injured chick and they came to me for advice and I do not know what to do. The chick is almost a week old and is being raised by a first time mama hen in their coop and run with another hen and rooster. All are bantams. Everything has been fine until today when my neighbor heard loud chirping coming from inside the coop, upon opening he saw the chick laying on the coop floor surrounded by the whole flock being tossed around.
Description:
Underneath the whole chin and part of the neck there is no skin and feathers. Only an open bloody wound (no blood dripping).
The left wing seems broken because it is very loose.
The chick was gasping and clicking it's beak. It has now (almost) stopped.
The chicks eyes are opening and closing a lot.

Currently the chick has been given a few drops of electrolyte water with a dropper. It was not forced and the chick took it well.
She is in a small box with bedding, electrolyte water, starter, fresh water and above her is a red head lamp.

Please leave all suggestions and questions!

Attached is the best pictures I could get.

thanks :)

Poor little baby!
I would keep giving her drops of fluids like you have been doing. Make sure she has space to get away from the heat and doesn't overheat under the light.
For a wound, clean it with saline, chlorhexidine or similar, pat dry, then apply a thin layer of triple antibiotic ointment.

For the wing, hopefully it's not broken and just sprained and painful. Chicks are fairly flexible. Give her a few days to see if she starts pulling the wing back to where it needs to be.

It would be good to suggest to your friend to move the broody and remaining chicks to a safer, more secure location near the flock where they can be seen and heard, so this doesn't happen again. Sometimes even an experienced broody is not able to prevent their flock from attacking their chicks.

Poor baby thanks for being a good neighbor. I would give her a couple days. And give vetricyn on wound.

Is the chick the only one the broody has? Hopefully some TLC will help. Make sure the chick drinks and eats, and you can tap those to teach it where to find them. Keep the brooder lamp at least 18 inches from the top of the chick, and raise it as needed. Temp should be about 90 F the first week, and decrease it weekly. But she needs to be able to get away to a cooler area if she is hot. How are the eyes this morning?

The broody only has her, she had another but the chick disappeared. I can give updates when I go over there and let them know she will need a bigger box to get away from the heat lamp.

I am going over to their house later and can help them set up a more adequate brooder.
She is separate from the flock in her own box, my neighbor has a few older chicks in a brooder and they could put her brooder next to them that way she can hear them chirping.
Hopefully we can get the wounds cleaned up too.
