I bought chicks a week ago and got them today. They sent us some extra just in case some were injured. One is, the chick doesn't open it's eyes and can barely walk. When it tries to it falls right over. I separated it from the others because they were picking at it and it was making it more difficult for it to get warm. Can someone tell me what's wrong? Does it have a chance of surviving and what can I do for it? Sorry I've never had this problem with the chicks I've hatched. Thanks for future help.

I'm not sure whats wrong. Sometimes they're just not healthy. I just went through a similar situation last week with a chick. It couldn't stand or walk. We did everything, vitamins, leg hobbles, and chick shoes. It died Monday PM. I would, if you feel it has a chance, keep it seperated, and just keep nursing it. ACV in the water, poly~vi~sol without iron, and hope for the best!

Thank you so much for the info, that helps a lot. I couldn't find anything on google. That at least gives it a better chance of surviving. It's been hard to get the chick to eat.

We got a shipment of silkie chicks last week, there was 7... 5 of the seven were DOA, and we lost the last 2 on Sun, and Mon. I know what you're going through! It sucks! I sure hope the little guy makes it. You might try to offer him some plain yogurt...

I just got Silkies. I'll try the yogurt, I'm really hoping it makes it through this. I don't know if this would effect it's walking in any way but it has two or three extra toes. It looks webbed kind of. Before I had chickens with extra toes but they were fine. I'll take some pics.
