My Buff Orpington got hit by a car today, which makes me really sad, but also really mad that someone would do that and not even stop. I didn't think she would make it 5 minutes, as her breathing was really crunchy and she wasn't moving. One side of her face is bruised and may have an eye injury. I sprayed her face with Vetericyn, because it works so well on things like this! I brought her in, put her in one of my parrots travel cages with a heat lamp and let her rest for awhile. I gave her a drop of Rescue Remedy on her beak, then put some in her water. I rubbed Lavendar Essential Oil on the bottom of her feet to calm her. After awhile, she was up and around, but I'm giving her water from a dropper.
After she had rested, I checked her out and saw a nice rip at the top of her wing. I sprayed it with Vetericyn and hope that it will stay together enough to heal. I also put a paste of cayenne pepper on the rip to help with pain.
I was wondering if there is anything else I might be able to do for her. I'm in the Ashland City area. Don't know if you have a good chicken vet.
