My daughter hatched Quail for a Girl Scout hatch and release program. The facility contacted us and has these three Quail they are unable to care for (assuming they are not originally mine) but 3 quail of the 250 they had. They’re asking if someone could take them to try to care for them and possibly keep the ones with the possible broken legs? I am contemplating it but looking for advice on what I would need to do and what their survival would even be ?? Two potentially have broken legs and one maybe has wry neck?

@Nabiki @007Sean. The wry neck is likely caused by a vitamin insufficiency but I have never treated for it and I have never had to deal with broken legs but hopefully the people I tagged can help.

Personally, I would cull the ones with the leg problems. The picture looks like they have displaced hips, so they won't ever be able to walk without surgery, which is an unlikely expense for quail.

The one with wry neck has a very good chance to live a normal life, simply a bit slanted. They do need company, though, so keeping a single chicks isn't a good idea.

Thank you, I do agree the legs do not look good. One is more swollen also.
