I am raising chicks for the first time. I had the chicks in a closed box while I was cleaning the tub out I am keeping them in until they are a bit bigger. My dog pushed his big head into the box and it appears he has broken one chick's leg and another one's foot. This happened on Sunday. I have put a splint on the one chick's leg. I have both of them separated from the other chicks. They are both still eating and drinking. The one with the broken foot gets around by hopping. The other sometimes is able to get the leg under her but often has it dragging behind her. I am not sure what to do.
Will their leg/foot heal? How long should the splint stay on? I understand I may need to always keep them separate from the others and I am ok with that. I am just not sure if they will heal properly or even if they will heal at all. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
