My little rooster Beastie seems to have broken a claw. I have blue kote, but what do I do? go to the vet? It look like there is a part of the nail barley holding on and a little barely bloody finger tip.

Fortunately, that seems very minor. As long as it's no longer bleeding he should be totally fine. :thumbsup One of my hens yanked her toenail off completely and she's just fine.

our young cockerel accidentally got locked out of the coop during a snowstorm and lost a little over half his toes. He was fine! Didn't inhibit him in the least.

have two quackers that lost their back nail snagging it on something and they are fine we stopped the bleeding and added used neosporin and not issues

Use septic powder if needed, but he should be fine, and the nail will grow back. I wouldn't be too worried though! :)

Thanks everyone. I went back out and he had already done away with the part that was hanging on. He's sporting a beautiful bright blue toenail now... Well, two because i missed... Luckily, we held him a lot as a chick, he just laid back and closed his eyes while I sprayed his foot.

It was bleeding a little bit. And looking on their roost, there are little red marks from where he was standing. I blue koted, so I hope that does it.
