Found hen in yard with a partially detached comb on the backside about a 1/4 inch. Blood on her head but it had stopped bleeding. I instantly removed her to the infermary kennel inside. I made sure her nostril were clear. She was calm. She drank some water and ate of course lol. I sprayed vetericyn on it. I wanted to use something to stick it in place but I was afraid she would scratch it and pull it off more. Can I use some liquid bandage and try to get it to reattach? She is comfy and resting and I am more upset than she is but I want her to heal and get back to the flock asap. She is my top hen too. I have no idea how it happened. I looked everywhere they go and I did not see a crime scene. Maybe attacked by another hen or chicken wire head poke not sure. Please advise. Thanks ahead of time.

Can you post a photo?

If the injury is minor, then I'd put her back with her flock, just wipe away any blood.

Personally, no, I wouldn't try to liquid bandage a comb back in place. 1/4" is not that big, it's probably already scabbing over.

Thanks guys. I sprayed some vetericyn on it and continuing to do so. It is trying to hold on a bit floppy but it is healing already. I have her outside in a cyclone 8x8 kennel with all the basic needs and treats along with her fav nesting box. She can be with the flock and protected from pecking. The kennel is in the open area where the other hens free range during the day and I will bring her in at night in my infermary. I wanna do this for a few days before I put her with the flock all the way. This was the first really bloody injury since I have had the chickens I think I was more upset than she was. Thank you again so much.

I think she'll heal just fine.

Combs, wattles, ears...those really bleed even with just a small prick.
Yes she is healing. I am also put some antibiotic ointment. Non pain relieving of course. I’m telling you it was chaos while she was away for one day and night then a few nights inside and is now very happy with the flock keeping everyone in line. Her head is purple from the no peck but that’s ok😁
