A couple of weeks ago, I posted a problem with two hens fighting. They are part of a very small flock (3 hens, one roo) and one of the hens had been separated in a broody coop. When I reintroduced her, she fought with another hen.
Following advice, I switched her with her antagonist, so the other hen was separated, with one roo, and the formerly broody hen was back with the other hen and one roo. They can see each other and are separated by poultry netting.
Also following advice, I let them out together briefly. They still fight and I break them up. I understand that this is something they just have to do.
Yesterday, I left them together longer, hoping they would just get it out of their system. I thought everything was ok when I closed up at night, but this morning, one of the hens has a closed eye and seems to be having difficulty seeing. I am attaching a photo.
Does anyone have any advice about how to treat her eye? I don't want it to get infected but I'm not sure I should put neosporin on it.
Should I give up on reintegrating the flock?
Thanks!
