Hi! My 6 year old accidently stepped on one of our hens legs when he was attempting to pick her up. He feels terrible! She is limping and not putting any weight on it. I noticed it is bruised and a little swollen. Any advice? She is still eating and drinking fine, but otherwise just laying around.

Can you take some photos?

Is a vet and xray an option for you?
Do you think it's broken or just sprained?

You could try splinting/wrapping the leg to see if that help, but if she's self limiting that may be better. A chicken sling is often used to help get them upright for short periods of time. Some birds tolerate a sling, while others fuss and try to get out and may cause more injury.

I'm sorry about your hen, accidents do happen. I understand he feels bad :hugs
I accidentally let the door shut on one of my hen's neck one time, I thought I had killed her, but it turned out o.k. I hope your hen does well too.

Here's a splinting manual that you may find helpful.
