I have one of the tall rectangular water stations with the little red cups. I really like it for my young birds run but had a scare yesterday. I was doing my rounds to check on food and water stations and I looked over towards this particular water container and I saw what looked like my young houdan upside down so I ran into the run and her leg was caught up in the swivel hanger arm. The arm was attached to the fence and it looked like she tried to perch on top but got her leg caught and fell down. She was on the side with her leg caught on the side between the arm and the container. I brought her inside for the night and gave her a Epson salt soak and left her sleep in a crate with shavings. Her leg didn’t appear broken just bruised and sore! She didn’t put much pressure on it last night but this morning is walking on it with a slight limp so it is a huge improvement, thank goodness!
It was an hour that I didn’t check on them yesterday till I found her, so within that hour she did this. I can’t imagine if it would have been longer and her struggling to get free. So I just wanted to warn everyone to watch with these types of water containers. I moved mine to blocks and leave the arm hand behind the container against the fence.
