Hello good people, I’m very worried as our free ranging young male peacock was shot with a bb gun in the leg about a week ago and while he initially was able to put a little weight on it, now he is not putting any weight on it at all. He can still fly and he is eating and drinking and is roosting at night. I had hoped to put him in a coop where he would use his foot less, and I could get an avian vet out to look at him. But we have tried to capture him to no avail, and I stopped because it was really stressing him out and he fled to the neighbors.
Photo here: I saw one post here in which a Peacock had learned to live without the use of one leg. I guess I’m just looking for either messages of hope or advice. We love this guy so much. Thank you!

His leg is broken he needs a cast on it for three weeks. And anitbiotics to ward off infection.
Do you have any hot tips for catching him? Normally I use a big sheet or a blanket and it’s a multiperson job. He’s so wary right now tho he doesn’t let me get anywhere near him. He won’t come to me even for blueberries, which he normally does.
