Injured Preening Gland?

I was sitting in the chicken run with my almost 2 siver-laced wyandotte on my lap when she started preening. I noticed she had what looked like a little bit of blood on her beak, and when she went for her preen gland she made distressed peeping noises, and then completely missed her feathers on the way out. I took a look at her preen gland and it looked normal except for a small red spot on one side. The feathers around her gland also seemed stringy.

Everything I'm seeing online is about infections, or much worse injuries to the area, so I'm not really sure what to do, any help is appreciated!

Pictures of the preening gland from different angles may help us, help you figure out what's wrong with it.
