Hi! So yesterday i noticed something next to my oldest crossbeak hens preen gland, it was like a bright orange spot/lump! I touched it lightly with a q-tip and it came off in flakes to reveal a deep looking hole that seems to have more of the waxy substance; For now I cleaned it the best I could and put some antibiotic ointment in the wound but it seems to be causing her discomfort as there is oily/waxy build up all around the base of her tail like shes not properly preening. She is also acting a bit more lethargic then usual, not enough for anyone else in my household to notice but just enough for me to notice (I spend almost 24/7 with her everyday so I know her behaviors and routine thoroughly) It definitely is not from fighting others as shes the top hen of our special needs flock that nobody picks fights with

Im wondering if its possibly from an impacted preening gland or what could have caused something like this? I dont want my baby girl to be hurting and am heavily thinking of taking her to the vet, the soonest appointment I can get is wednsday.

Any advice?

Posting a picture may help.
I might be able to get one tomorrow, It was a struggle to even get a good look at it because of how thick her feathers are; It took 2 people to even get near it (one to hold her as shes a squirmer and another to hold the flashlight and actually get in there)

What was the issue? Clogged oil duct is hot compresses for 10 min probiotics electrolytes topical cream/keep clean. I think my hen has it.
