We just got our first quail a week ago and found out the hard way that a raccoon lives in our neighborhood. It got underneath our hutch and got to the legs and injured some toes. We immediately added a second layer of 1/4 inch hardware cloth over the 1/2 inch layer everywhere

So far everyone has recovered well, but this poor girl’s toe got hurt pretty bad. The bone is protruding from the flesh, which doesn’t appear to have any infection, but she stands in the other foot and tucks this one up so I know it’s causing her pain. I’ve applied neosporin, iodine, and kept the wound clean.

I don’t know what else to do. Will we need to amputate it? Is she ok like this with the bone sticking out?
