Injured Roo

Our naibors roo got a hold of our Roo and messed him up, we have cleaned him and and spayed his injurys not too bad as we got them apart fast. But it has been 3 days and he just sits in the corner of the chicken coop, I have made sure he has food and water but he is only eatting a tiny bit. We have even taken him out into the pen for some sun, but after a min. he goes back in to the coop, Anyway is there anything else we can do for him?? The vet here will not take chickens. Thanks for any advice or thoughts.

Right now he is just really sore but should recover. Is he in with any hens? sometimes feeding them with the rooster present will perk them up.

You might also try some canned cat food for the extra protien but limit it to about 1 tablespoon a day. You may have to do some creative thinking to find something that will sustain him till he gets over this.

I would say that not only is he hurt, his pride is most likely affected as he could be alittle embarrased over his lady seeing him get beat up so that in itself can take time to get over. Have you tried offering any bread? Mine love it! Hope your boy perks up quick!

First thing you check after a cock fight is for lumps along their throat, sometimes spurs can caused blood blisters.

he's sore,, and his pride has been kicked to the curb,, lol,, first, seperate him from the others, then give him some gatorade, then take a little food, and mix it in with some food scraps from dinner, or even cook up some oatmeal, and mix some feed in it, after he gets some feed in him,, check him over by feeling every part of him,, you'll be able to tell the difference between, i dont like you touching me, and OW it hurts. if there isnt any physical problems, then after 3 or 4 days, he should be ready to be put back in the pen,, but be ready cause theres gonna be the "im alpha" from your other roo for a bit.
but watch them,, they may never be able to be together, or they may get along better then ever

THANKS :0) Still can't get him to eat at least I have not seen him, but he is drinking when we take him to the water, one eye had closed last night with some clear/brown stuff and we had to clean him, day4 , sure hoping he gets better, I feel for him. Thanks again.
