I have a baby chick that looks like it got pecked on by a bigger chicken. Help! It looks like it’s leg was being pecked off and looks broken. It’s chirping I know it has to be in pain! I don’t have anything special medicine wise for animals. It’s head had a Raw spot on it but I’m more concerned about it’s leg. It’s floppy! What can I do or should I do. It’s eyes are open. It’s just chirps being scared and in pain. I brought inside and put it under a heat lamp.

Sorry your chick was injured. You should be able to clean the wound with some warm, soapy water. The leg though, how you treat that will depend on what bone is involved.

I cleaned with warm soapy water. I’ve laid it down in a brooder to rest. When I pick it up to see if it’s ok it moves so much being scared I’m afraid I’m making it worse by it moving to much. It’s still alive but I can’t tell how much damage was done or if it will survive. I can’t see a one legged chicken beating this.

How's your baby doing?

How's your baby doing?
Still alive eating and drinking on it own. I’ve taken it out today for outside recess and it hops still on one foot with a little pressure on sore leg. But it hops fast to come towards me. Just worried on how or when I need to make sure toes don’t curl. Maybe in time.

Does the leg look like it's healing?
