Injured toes, painful

Did you check with a vet before giving human meds? Some things that are good for us can be toxic to other creatures.

That is very good advise. But, I did not check with a vet. The medication is a herbal natural one for humans.. no chemicals. The vets here will not treat birds and carry no medication for them, so they are not interested. I once took in a rescued wild bird with a broken wing with the bone sticking out, only for the vet to say I was OK as birds do not feel pain!!!!

I figure that if I just left my quail he would be in so much pain and crippled I would have to put him to sleep. So, at least this way he has a chance. If the medication killed him that would not be much different to me having to end his life anyway.

Actually, I seem to have been lucky and am pleased to say he seems to be getting better. Before he could not walk more than a few steps and was always laying down. Now he is walking about with the other quail normally and he is very active, although limping. So his pain must have reduced.

Also his toes are no longer red and inflamed and shiny like they were before. He still has the large bumps, but they don't look angry anymore and some have started to reduce in size.

I really hope he can get better soon.
